New Friday 27th February Dog Course

,
Time to think about the next course and with quite a few people waiting in the wings please inform myself (Tony) of your continued interest so your place remains secure.

I will for the first time be having an earlier afternoon dog class starting at approx 12:15pm and finishing at 13:15pm the next class will run consecutively at 1:30pm-2:30pm. I will be putting the younger dogs into the earlier class as befitting their age and abilities.

These classes are open to anyone who would some help in training their dogs but please don't delay as I only have a limited amount of spaces in each class.

Thankyou in advance for your continuing support

Winter Ramble Pictures

,
Great turn out for todays winter ramble and I'm pleased to say that the weather was very kind to us and it hardly snowed at all. The 9 dogs all had a terrific time and I've got to say that I haven't heard a peep out of Minnie for the rest of the day.
No injuries to report although I managed to catch Trish as she vaulted over a stile and David decided to toboggan down the hill side without using a toboggan. Theres no shame in that David but I have to say that none of the ladies suffered any similar mishaps!?!
Anyway,
StixnBones Dog Club all wrapped up and raring to go

Not everyone had to walk

Hill 1 and Trish head down and determined

"Diva" pulling Hazel up the hill, why didn't I think of that!

May be muddy to us but its heaven to the dogs

Diva leading some of the dogs into a puddle for a "cool down"
heres a few pictures and well done everybody

A fantastic show of support from members of StixnBones and other friends particularly in regard to whats been happening in Ruislip and the surrounding woodland concerning contaminated meat and fluids.
Over 20 people and dogs gathered at Ruislip Lido car park and went on a very pleasant walk taking full advantage of the glorious winter sun
Great chat and coffee at Mino's and then home, well done everyone and don't forget the Winter Ramble next weekend

Treatment of Poisoning

,
The signs of poisoning vary depending on what poison has been swallowed. However, the common signs are:

Vomiting/retching

Violent twitching

Collapse

Should your dog appear to have any of the above, straight to the vets without delay and ALSO, very importantly bring any of the poison with you to the vets so it can be examined and then the correct form of treatment can be administered.

Do not induce vomiting if you suspect that that barbiturates, kerosene or any corrosive has been swallowed, or if the dog is convulsing. I would add that recent poison laid down around the Ruislip area would be considered as corrosive (anti-freeze). If you suspect any illness to your dog, play safe and straight to the vets.

***ATTENTION NEEDED***(Update)

,
Ruislip Woods has had someone apparently putting down meat laced with anti-freeze. Please take every precaution with your dogs particularly just off the main paths. See anything or anyone suspicious......report it!

Our phantom meat marinader has been active again, this time by Links Way Northwood. As you enter the path from Links Way and turn right to go up the sandy path towards Ducks Hill contaminated meat has been found nestling the edge of the paths.

This is in my walk zone so I shall certainly be very active in observing all those around me and paying attention to my dogs.

Please read my article about dealing with Poisoning

"Walking Out" morning and a winter Ramble

,
Saturday 24th January please join me for a walking out morning with our dogs around Ruislip Lido culminating in a cup of tea at "Mino's" cafe and a few easy exercises afterwards. Meet at 9:30am at the top Lido car park
As per normal please wear appropriate clothing for inclement weather and remember: You don't get bad weather, only bad clothes

The following weekend Saturday 31st January there is also a winter ramble...............This will take place in Sarratt where we will meet at the Cock Inn which is at Church Lane, Sarratt, Rickmansworth Hertfordshire WD3 6HH
Please meet at 10:30am in the pub car park
The ramble is a nice leisurely one around the Chess valley but, it has two fairly steep hills and might be tough going in wet weather
At the conclusion of the walk a pint of Spitfire with bangers and mash is the order of the day!

I would like to invite any non-members of Stixnbones to come along to either event as it is very enjoyable and we have a great crowd (and dogs)
